History of Taylorville Community Credit Union
The first TCCU branch opened in Taylorville, Illinois in 1956. TCCU was founded in the basement of a house to assist local business owners with their payroll. The credit union grew and began to require a small staff. In 1976, TCCU occupied the current building on West Main Cross, but the building was half the size as it is today. At that time, tables were used instead of desks to process paperwork and help members. The staff of 6 took turns waiting on members, compiling loan applications, and completing collection work. The building also had a one-lane drive thru.
Over the years the face of TCCU has changed, but the devotion to friendly and honest service has kept TCCU as an active and welcome member of the Taylorville community.
Hillsboro Branch
The Hillsboro branch of TCCU opened in February of 1989 on Main Street as a full service credit union. It was one of the first credit unions in Hillsboro and has moved locations 3 times to accommodate the ever expanding membership. TCCU Hillsboro came to its current home on East Wood Street in 2013. We are proud to have local residents as our employees as we embrace the wonderful community of Hillsboro.
Litchfield Branch
The Litchfield branch of TCCU opened its doors in December of 2007 when TCCU acquired the deposits and loans from Midwest Federal Credit Union in McHenry, Illinois. A branch of Midwest Federal Credit Union shared a space with Dana Brake Parts which served their employees as well as those from Sierra International. When Dana Brake Parts announced they were closing their Litchfield facility, Midwest Federal Credit Union sold the deposits and loans to Taylorville Community Credit Union. TCCU then opened up the membership to everyone who worked in Montgomery, Christian, and Shelby Counties. A short time later, TCCU moved from the Dana Brake Parts location to 110 E. Ryder St. in downtown Litchfield. In November of 2014, TCCU purchased 801 W. Union Avenue, in Litchfield which was formerly the Medicine Shoppe. Renovations to the space began in February 2015, and the branch opened for business on October 26, 2015. Services such as an ATM, Night Deposit, and a Drive-Thru were added to better serve TCCU’s members.
Pana Branch
On January 14, 2019, TCCU hired Al Stupek as Branch Manager of our new Pana facility. Shortly thereafter, Roberta Evrley and Pam Litz joined our staff. Once our experienced staff was hired, we opened the doors in our temporary location at 308 South Poplar in Pana on March 4, 2019. This location served our members while the new branch was being constructed. A lot of time and effort was put into designing this building to provide for the needs of our growing credit union and membership. As construction was nearing an end, Heather Dagen was hired to fill out our staff. On March 9, 2020, less than eight months after construction began, the new facility in Pana was opened for business. We thank the community of Pana for all the support we have received. Pana is a great community, and we are truly proud to be able to serve our members and the community.
